ABSTRACT

Part of networking is building school counselors’ brand. When they’re networking, school counselors are marketing themself to an individual. There are a lot of school counselors and narrowing down who to network with can be daunting. The first place to start is with those in their school and district. They will be able to guide school counselors through what they have experienced with their principal, superintendent, faculty, and school board. Networking with school counselors at other schools is good because it gives school counselors breadth. They can learn from what they are doing within their school and their entire district. As a school counselor, school counselors will work with people outside of the education community. School counselors’re going to want to have a resource list for their parents and students of professionals in the mental health community. If school counselors are working in a high school, they will spend a lot of time setting up college representative visits.
