ABSTRACT
During their internship class, school counselors will also work on the final preparations for their licensure. This chapter presents the basics for the school counseling licensure. In the past, some states used to require a person be an educator before they could be a school counselor. If school counselors’re an educator or have been, check with their state’s department of education about licensing. Getting their out of state license can be tricky. If school counselors live near another state, it might be a good idea to go ahead and get their license because they might get a job there. One of the most stressful parts of preparing for their career is the licensure requirements. There can be barriers to overcome if school counselors are getting their degree in Ohio but want to work in Kentucky or Indiana.
