ABSTRACT

The previous chapter has set out the basis for critical community psychology, historically, contextually and ethically. In this chapter we continue setting the scene, firstly exploring key elements that inform the praxis of critical community psychology, drawing on the ecological metaphor; systems perspectives; multiple levels of analysis; the person-in-context thinking; working together; and prefigurative action. We then summarise these two chapters in terms of what we understand to be the key principles underlying a critical community psychology, namely diversity; innovation; liberation; decoloniality; commitment; critical reflection; and humility.
