ABSTRACT

Teleconferencing, computer conferences, interactive video and related similar uses of varied media are common topics in adult education literature. The uses and potential applications of educational technology suggest the possibility that we are living in an era of unprecedented innovation. The contributions to adult education made by the individuals are of two kinds. The first is direct, narrow and immediate whereas the second is indirect, broad and long term. This chapter suggests that innovation in education of adults is a historical reality that can be identified with individuals who lived in quite different social, economic and political periods. It is noted that creativity, a basis for innovation, does not necessarily require high levels of originality in an extremely narrow connotation of the word. Creativity, thus, may be an important personal attribute of innovators in the education of adults.
