ABSTRACT

The final chapter offers an assortment of themes, including a game of contrasting interpretations of the same cryptic objects; a miracles tale of overhearing the conversation of bore-worms; the Emperor’s New Clothes against an unfamiliar historical background; an ancient Robin Goodfellow and even the possibility of a Frog Prince in the ugly monster turned handsome prince winning the admiration of Princess Nausicaa. Elements of ‘difficult’ versions of Rumpelstiltskin and Bluebeard serve as a reminder of further possibilities in work in progress, and the capacity of fairy- and folktale for infinite mutation and variation.
