ABSTRACT

We have so far adapted the traditional approach to theory building. This approach involved explicit predictions of relationships among social factors based on substantive theories. The empirical tests of the proposed model yielded only partial support for the model. We now attempt to search for a model with more predictive validity than the model which was empirically tested. The sample data can be explored to discover empirical relationships. These relationships may be incorporated into the theoretical model. The revised model is likely to yield a better fit to the data. This process of discovering models which fit the data is called post hoc modeling. Several pieces (submodels) of the theoretical model of reproductive rights are examined separately. We attempt to improve these submodels. The submodels are integrated to obtain a post hoc model of reproductive rights.
