ABSTRACT

As a supporter of public subsidization of parochial schools, Father Blum purports to show the moral, philosophical, educational, and juridical basis for such support. Direct subsidies, tax credits and vouchers would guarantee competitive improvement among educational institutions and would foster freedom of choice for parents. By disallowing public aid to private schools, the Supreme Court would be denying the civil rights and freedom of conscience of parents, as well as engendering student conformity to mass opinion and encouraging a state-enforced orthodoxy of secular humanism.
