ABSTRACT
Because the Church of England was established, the roots and early history of Episcopal Church education must be found from sources which specialize on the colonial beginnings. The major collections of manuscripts and public records are to be found at Princeton University, in the combined resources of Colonial Williamsburg and the Swem Library at the College of William & Mary, at Columbia University (which was an Anglican foundation), and perhaps surprisingly in the microfilm collections of the University of Texas and the University of California at Berkeley. The Episcopal School in longest continuous existence is Trinity School, 139 W. 91st St. , New York, NY 10024. Its earliest records are in the archives of Trinity Parish, 74 Trinity Place, New York, NY 10006, which is the mother church for all of the colony of New York.
