ABSTRACT

After the completion of the European market and with the widening of Europe towards an easterly direction, mobility in general has shown a steady increase in Europe. In particular, cross-border transport has been at a rising edge with annual growth rates exceeding 10 percent, a process reinforced by the current globalization trends. The integration of former segmented markets - and the related liberalization in the European space - has led to drastic changes in both goods and passenger transport.
