ABSTRACT

Peru has several laws dealing with legal deposit of publications. Ley 24182 is the most important law. The Peruvian law omits from legal deposit newspapers and periodicals, which were listed in Decreto Ley 22244, derogated when the military junta was replaced by a civilian government. The old law was aimed at the deposit of wide circulation daily newspapers; regional daily newspapers; and limited circulation daily newspapers and daily newspapers or potentially daily publications. Peru has several laws dealing with legal deposit of publications. The present law stipulate what are the duties and responsibilities of the depository libraries to their legal deposit collections; nor who the owner of the legal deposit publication is, the state or the receiving library.
