Eliminating waste. In this book, we’re going to focus on ‘unevenness’ (Mura) and ‘overburden’ (Muri), two types of waste that are often ignored. Why are we going to focus on those? Two reasons. First, because they have a huge effect on flow in services. Second, they often lead to the creation of many of the Seven Wastes (Muda) of Transportation, Inventory, Motion, Waiting, Overproduction, Overprocessing, and Defect. Let’s get started!
