ABSTRACT

This chapter provides exemplars from school based social work. These exemplars are from the first agency-wide study undertaken in 1993, as well as subsequent studies within the same agency to evaluate specific truancy and behaviour projects. According to a 1992 report of the Service Manager Joe Wilson, the Kirklees Education Social Work Service provides a social work service in an education (school) setting, the main aim of which is to assist children to benefit from the educational opportunities available to them and help children, families and schools to deal with problems which may be preventing the children from realising their full potential. In its initial phases, the study concentrated on the implementation of E. A. R. Robinson, D. E. Bronson and B. J. Blythe’s recommendations to encourage a wider use of single-case evaluation. Twenty one social workers in the employment of Kirklees Metropolitan Council submitted data from their practice for this evaluation research study.
