ABSTRACT
The chapter focuses on the construction and discourse functions of adverb, adjective, and noun clauses, and how these subordinate clauses can be taught. Teaching and learning subordinate structures in L2 writing can take a little work, but using complex sentences can greatly benefit the quality of L2 text.
