ABSTRACT

Tadhana and SNI projects are juxtaposed in this chapter to foreground insights that shed light on the dynamics of the power–knowledge relations. It underscores the paramount importance of contexts as determinate of power relations between embodiments of power and knowledge. Rather than regarding scholars as passive or manipulated, this chapter highlights their power as agents who had a significant role in shaping the projects. The relationship between state operatives and scholar-participants was a partnership, which exemplifies in a formal setting the transactional interactions between embodiments of power and knowledge that happen on daily basis. Finally, it shows that notwithstanding the differences between the two projects, a fundamentally similar logic underpins the dynamics of power relations that characterize and shape them.
