ABSTRACT

Kids get stuck for many reasons, and one of them is indecision. We’ve seen many kids freeze, shut down, and meltdown because they are overwhelmed with choice or don’t know what exactly to say or where to start. These days, there are so many products, clothes, and options in every department of life, it’s no wonder choosing is often a source of distress. It doesn’t help that their brain isn’t the most flexible for much of childhood and adolescence, especially since when a child gets stuck, it can affect the whole family. If there’s a major time crunch or the choice offered is unreasonable for your child’s developmental level, then of course you may need to step in and choose for him. However, choice is part of growing up, and learning to make choices also builds confidence.
