ABSTRACT
This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book focuses on some of the existing research on remittances and details a new lens to look at remittances. It argues that there is a need for crafting and sharing better narratives of remittances. The book then points out the need for reexamining and synthesizing the various theories of remittances—with regards to motivations to send. It also details the changing role of technology in remittances. The book offers a quantitative approach of remittances, seeking to paint a vivid picture using numbers of the expanse of remittance giving and receiving. It then offers an understanding and appraisal of policies from India, again using a timeline approach to reviewing the policy. The book also focuses on the discourse of remittances in policy as well as among migrants and deals with remittances from the Gulf nations.
