ABSTRACT

As technology adoption expands, more administrative tasks normally done at the check-in desk are completed before a patient arrives, thus freeing up patient and resource time in the clinic. Realistically, the idea of healthcare pre-check or pre-registration processes is not so different to online airplane flight check-in processes or even online movie reservation processes. There is a great deal of information needed from each patient or family member to give the care team an understanding of a patient’s health. Much of this information is collected manually from a patient who fills out forms. Rather than wait till the time a patient shows up at the Front Desk, many clinics complete work ahead of time so that the patient and provider do not have to wait once the patient arrives. Much like the front office staff, the clinical staff may prepare for each patient ahead of time rather than wait till the time a patient shows up at the front desk.
