ABSTRACT
There are many opportunities to write a single chapter for a scholarly, professional, or practical book formulated as an edited collection of chapters. Here we assess some of the main pros and cons of writing book chapters to help you decide whether it's a route you want to take. We look at which of your identified assets you can use to create a book chapter, and how to approach that process. We review your options for when an edited collection finds you and for when you want to find an edited collection.
Then we move on to the central topics of planning and writing a book chapter, working with the book editor or editors, and receiving and giving feedback. Our PIPs illustrate some ways in which people might (or might choose not to) approach writing book chapters in practice.
