ABSTRACT

Project management involves a complex process that weaves together a combination of many different elements. International Project Management Association (IPMA) works to introduce and promote project management methodology amongst individuals, companies, institutions, and organisations worldwide through its educational base and its certification system. IPMA, headquartered in Switzerland, is a globally recognised, not-for-profit body that has been promoting standards in project management since 1965. Association for Project Management (APM) operates within IPMA and is the largest national project management association within IPMA. APM has a continually updated conceptual foundation with a longer history than ICB. In 2012, APM launched the sixth edition of the standard with a functional structure and comprehensive coverage of the disciplines of project, programme, and portfolio management. APM reached an important status in 2017 when it received its Royal Charter and became an officially chartered body. The chapter also presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in this book.
