ABSTRACT

The finishing stage of a project involves the delivery of the product of a project and agreement between the parties involved that all aspects of a project are satisfactorily completed. Close-outs can occur in various ways. Sometimes they occur suddenly, e.g. when the project owner decides for some reason to stop the project, or when the main objectives are attained at some point, and the project is finished, perhaps sooner than intended. In small projects, close-out can occur rapidly, and it may even be carried out with modest preparation along with a formal close-out meeting if information has been well maintained during the project. The part of the close-out of a project that revolves around the delivery of the project’s product to the project client and transfer of responsibilities often follows procedures which were defined in a contract at the beginning, often on the basis of tender documents.
