ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at some examples of the developing technologies impacting the content delivery workflow. Visuals, either projected or on an emissive screen, must sometimes respond to input from their immediate environment or information delivered from a remote source. The media server processes the position data and redraws the imagery on the signal output related to the projector(s) that output that image onto the screen. The media server manages which pixels to render or reveal based on the data coming from the scenic automation system or IR beacons and the projection style desired. The LEDs receive the imagery from the media server and continue to play the part of the raster they are assigned with no change based on screen position. Scenic tracking demonstrates perfectly the value of using a media server to manage projection calibration. In a performance event, the motion of an actor or dancer can trigger an event creating unique image responses to every action.
