ABSTRACT

Media operations and the screens producer dissect the set and translate a three-dimensional arrangement of screen surfaces onto a 2D raster for content design. Video files delivered to the media operations department for playback must be clearly defined by raster size and screen position to ensure that pixels designed by the creative team land on specific screen surfaces as intended. The design raster size is entirely defined by raster space that needs to include every screen in the set, not by engineering considerations like signal size. The goal of the delivery raster is to optimize render time for the content team, file management for content & media ops and show programming for the media operations team. The best approach to layer organization for each project involves: careful study of the scenic screens, understanding how those screens will be used, and the programming style of the people responsible for cueing the show.
