ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors cover, building the right inner circle, building the right day-to-day team, playing to female entrepreneurs strengths and minimising their weaknesses, building the right support network, and whether to bring in other people’s money. Once female entrepreneurs taken the first steps in getting their business off the ground it’s important to surround their with the right people. Despite being sociable, many interviewees talked about entrepreneurship being a lonely business, particularly when making tough commercial decisions or working through fraught situations. All talked about the importance of recognising the skills that they had learned in past roles which could help to equip them in their journey into entrepreneurship. When building the right day-to-day team, the authors interviewees talked about the importance of knowing yourself – both their strengths that they can play to and their weaknesses or gaps that other people around they will need to fill.
