ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors look at some of the characteristics that our female entrepreneurs felt gave them a competitive advantage in the workplace, including: ability to multitask, leveraging the power of part-time, flexible workforces, taking people with them by keeping their ego in check, tapping into intuition and lateral thinking, and knowing when to stop. They also look at some of the natural advantages that female entrepreneurs feel they have in the workplace. Whether true or false, it has long been said that women can multitask in a way that men can only wish for. Women respond very well to other women – and are at their best when they get on well and are supportive, which women naturally are. Similar proportion rate women are as more empathetic, with better insight into how decisions play out in the wider organisation. And over half rate women as better on communications and effective collaboration.
