ABSTRACT

This chapter begins by situating Generation Z and the G.I. Generation in two unique, yet similar, positions in history. By offering a comparison of the early to mid-1900s when the G.I. Generation was born and coming of age and Generation Z in present day, it is easy to understand how both generations grapple with political, economic, and social contexts that in many ways are more alike than they are different. Particular topics covered in this chapter include politics, war, global relationships, immigration, the economy, innovation, social issues, racial equality, gender equality, and family structures. The chapter culminates with a discussion of those aspects of Generation Z that are unique to them.
