ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book examines the narrative which has grown from the literature reviews, the methodology, the major findings, and the analysis undertaken in addressing questions about how western environmental philosophy is communicated through corporate environmental reporting, and what this means about the corporate relationship with nature. It demonstrates how corporate environmental reporting elucidates the relationship between the corporation and nature. The book discusses some important aspects regarding how corporations communicate about and relate to the natural environment. Practical implications centre around many of the interviewees’ claims that that their companies’ environmental reporting has a direct impact on internal corporate decision-making and management. In contrast to both dualism and transcendence, interconnectivity is a philosophical approach which promotes a respect for and relationship with the natural world.
