ABSTRACT
From the arrival of the western allied occupation forces in Berlin in July 1945, radio operators would have been conscious of their ability to pick up Soviet radio transmissions. A small group of linguists and wireless operators were attached to a 646 Signals Unit and were responsible for collecting electronic intelligence.
