ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the world's response to ongoing challenges is the UN-2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda. Where by 'national political leaders' are able to 'generate strategic guidance calling for interdisciplinary relations across institutions'. While the UN-2030 overall SDG vision for 'a world free of poverty, hunger, disease and want, where all life can thrive' is, as the UN planners admit, 'supremely ambitious and transformational', it is also critical to the future of the planet but potentially difficult to achieve and raises fundamental questions. Marco Lambertini's message is intended for public, private and civil society sectors and implores these stakeholders to be proactive, to 'pull together in a bold and coordinated effort', for 'Heads of State' to think globally and for businesses and consumers 'to stop behaving as if we live in a limitless world' – before we face inevitable and potentially disastrous consequences.
