ABSTRACT

In this chapter we detail the three dominant political ideologies expressed in Copenhagen’s cycling and car politics: Left/Progressive, Neoliberal, and Right/Conservative. Decisions about streets and urban space are made at Copenhagen City Hall and in the Danish Parliament, where there are shared visions among similar parties. These shared visions include distinct ideas about future cycling policy and future car restraint policies. Crosscutting these mobility visions are ideas about the role of government.
