ABSTRACT

Projections are a powerful tool that can create transformative stage pictures. They can be used to provide atmospheric effects, textures and enhance or replace three-dimensional scenery. The development of high-performance digital projectors and computer-based playback systems, plus declining equipment costs, increased ease of use of digital equipment, and the ubiquity of digital images, have all made digital projection the standard in the field for projected media. A mirror that reflects certain wavelengths of light and allows all others to pass through the mirror. A red dichroic mirror reflects red light and allows all other wavelengths to pass through it. The individual red, green and blue images reflected from the three digital micromirror devices are then recombined to form a full color image that is projected through a lens. Projector manufacturers usually determine low contrast ratios by measuring the brightness at both the edge and center of the image at full brightness and then at full black.
