ABSTRACT

Some moralizing is permitted in Chapter 7, where we investigate unbecoming and even outrageous behavior on the part of those taking advantage of system and, inevitably, of other (often innocent) human beings. We avoid wandering into the minute analysis required by social psychology but point out system fallibility and the lack of rigor in applying the precautionary principle against system abuse. In closed societies in particular, where cohesion is preached as national dogma, taking advantage for personal gain can be criminal and costly for transgressors. Official corruption is inevitably denied, and its accusers imprisoned or eliminated.
