ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the implications for an institution of higher education planning to add resource-based learning to its range of teaching methods. Time-tabling of resources, the software, hardware, accommodation and sessions required for consultation with tutors will need consideration. Extreme care must therefore be taken in any planning for the introduction of resource-based learning that the teaching staff are fully informed of the intentions and fully involved in decision-making. There are thus a number of major areas in which one must consider the implications for an institution and its staff of implementing resource-based learning. Staff developing learning systems based on the use of resources should have a working knowledge of the restrictions applying to copyright. The use of a range of resources in the form of software means that the rights of authors, producers and performers will need to be observed.
