ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book aims to develop a comprehensive model of decolonised and developmental Nepali social work to illustrate that it is possible to synthesise two emerging fields of practice, that is, decolonisation and development. It argues that ‘Nepalisation’, that is, first, separation from the Western worldview and, second, Nepali embedded social work, is what required in the Nepali context to respond to contemporary social issues. The book shows that a prominent feature of Nepali society was its dynamic normative nature. It discusses a decolonised and developmental Nepali model of social work practice grounded in Nepali social workers’ first-hand experiences of working in International non-government organisations and their critical understandings of social work education and practice in Nepal, is just a temporal end.
