The Memorandum and the guardian ad litem: whose rights, needs and interests?

This chapter will examine issues arising from the use of the Memorandum of Good Practice in Video Recorded Interviews with Child Witnesses for Criminal Proceedings (Home Office, 1992) to conduct interviews in child abuse investigations which result in the instigation of civil public law proceedings under the Children Act 1989, and the appointment of a guardian ad litem.
