ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the dual-use nature of neuroscience. I argue that, contrary to typical accounts of dual-use in the life sciences, the security applications of neuroscience give rise to a particular form of the dual-use dilemma in which harm is occasionally not only permissible, but the desired use of these technologies.
