ABSTRACT
Naturalistic models purport to rescue the understanding of scientific explanations from earlier worries about induction, rationality, and underdetermination, by grounding philosophy of science within science itself. If the understanding of science is merely of a piece with science itself, might its justification rest on firmer ground? What are the costs?
