ABSTRACT

Although the author found frustration with many incongruencies as she slogged through the uncharted territory of FORL, she realized these contradictions were of vast importance. After all, incongruencies are inherent to all complex systems. These frustrating features are significant for understanding romantic love and FORL.

Every relationship is unique, like a snowflake. Ultimately, why some individuals fall out of romantic love and others do not deserves more exploration, but we are far closer to understanding the factors and processes involved.

Throughout these pages, we have seen the complexity of love, relationships, and FORL. Some may want nothing to do with love and marriage, for fear of pain or divorce. However, the author does not believe that is the answer. Love and relationships are far too meaningful.

While we wait for research to catch up, the author reminds us there are many things people can do to increase the odds of a satisfying, long-term romantic relationship – and to decrease the risk of FORL. In keeping her promise, the most up-to-date, empirically based information was provided. Following the recommendations found throughout this book is a great start to meeting your relationship goals! Let’s keep the conversation going!
