ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors discuss the culmination of the Creative Play Therapy work in healing for the client. Authors present ideas to consider, including revisiting any continued deficits in core needs, reviewing emotional and somatic expression for comparison from earlier stages to this stage, and revisiting meaning making to assist clients in making lasting change and healing. Authors also discuss the skill of affirmation. The stages of Creative Play Therapy are reviewed in the context of a case example with a female client struggling with post-partum depressive symptoms through five sessions. A second case example is provided from a client’s perspective discussing how healing occurred through Creative Play Therapy.

The Creative Play Therapy approach has seven phases which are displayed in Figure 11.1
