ABSTRACT

There has been a change in Caroline’s internal world. The author can “see” it in the change of imagery she uses. Caroline’s nascent internal mental life might have a chance of surviving the attacks even if they too are from within. Hopefully, we are on the way for memory to have a Place to be in – an internal home. Caroline is becoming more curious. She wants to understand why she had the blackout that led to her dangerous falling off her bike. She knows that she herself caused it. But having no answers is part of the experience of the emptiness of her inside. In retrospect, The author think Caroline used Alice to show how mad she was feeling. The author thinks the reason for her despair was that she had experienced them, with their very moderate narrative depleted of the violence, as being similar to her parents denying that the violence she knew really happened.
