ABSTRACT

This chapter provides some useful resources that should demystify the process and equip scholars with better ways to succeed in their publishing career. Most of the radical changes that influence scholarly publishing and the creation and dissemination of knowledge are created by revolutions in technology. Academic journals typically welcome submissions from anyone—students, graduate students, post-docs, college- or university-affiliated scholars, independent scholars, and members of the general public. If there is a 90% rejection rate, it means that many publishable articles do not get published in the journal of choice. The suggested revisions are all minor ones, but they do underscore the point that even manuscripts accepted for publication can be improved. Research the publisher’s list and guidelines for submission: The publisher’s list includes all of the titles they have produced that are in print. The guidelines for submission detail precisely what the publisher wants to see in the proposal.
