ABSTRACT

Accidental ethnography is, well, grounded in fortunate accidents of everyday life. Accidental ethnography seeks and embraces possibility. In the face of infinity, the accidental ethnographer becomes acutely aware of limitation, especially as it resides in the power to write this grand, mysterious world into being through story. In the face of infinity, the accidental ethnographer must stand, heartfully and courageously, and face down the anxiety. The accidental ethnographer hears a call of conscience and, quite simply, must answer that call. Accidental ethnography is, well, grounded in fortunate accidents of everyday life. The accidental ethnographer is a spirited researcher, building interconnectivity through remembering, through dreaming, through wandering, through writing, drawing on the resources of the heart, of the mind, of memory, birthing story as a pathway to connecting the past, the present, and an imagined future.
