ABSTRACT
Within this chapter, the author has tried to give an insight into the rather complicated workings of the c.p.u. For the librarian who wishes to know what the equipment is capable of delivering, and is unconcerned as to how that is achieved, the later chapters are more relevant and they would be equally understandable without reading this chapter.
