ABSTRACT
There are three back-up circulation systems available at the present time. The most common system relies on PCs linked to a group of terminals to protect the basic circulation functions in the event of c.p.u. or telecommunications failure. The second form of back-up system relies on the portable data capture units, using the Psion organizer, normally associated with mobile library services, which can also support a basic offline circulation function.
