ABSTRACT

Ships in the maritime sector are increasingly becoming victims of cyberattacks related to both to intellectual property theft and cyberwarfare. Like in the banking and power grid sectors, it is the level of lack of information sharing and the under-reporting of cyberattacks that he finds of greatest concern. Cyberattacks can cause power outages and affect the quality of the service including service disruption. The implications of such disruption can be both economically and socially destructive. The loss of power to both homes on the domestic side and, for example, to manufacturers of perishable goods can cause untold damage. Blockchain technology can be used in smart grids to provide greater transparency for consumers allowing them to track directly from where their electricity is produced. Its use allows greater direct contact between energy providers and consumers. One of the most important cybersecurity solutions for smart grids is information sharing when a cyberattack occurs at another energy provider.
