ABSTRACT

This chapter explores women’s attitudes and experiences of threesomes involving two men and one woman, investigating their (dis)interest in them. Primarily, an interest in these sorts of threesome seems to centre on a desire to have men interact together sexually—providing not only sexual arousal, but also a perception of a safer, less objectifying experience. In contrast, some individuals suggest an anxiety around MMF threesomes, citing fears of objectification and/or fears for their safety. Accordingly, threesomes involving two men can, for women, be seen as both highly desirable and highly undesirable depending on the sexual interactions which take place. The results also suggest that people were broadly comfortable in pursuing the types of threesomes they enjoyed, and not engaging in those they did not, thus providing further evidence of women enacting their sexual agency and not simply capitulating to the desires of men.
