ABSTRACT

Classroom assessment refers to the processes teachers engage in to come to decisions about relatively fine-grained student learning. A challenging area for most teachers is classroom assessment, in particular, the management of classroom assessment activities. It involves the assigning, collecting, evaluating, and reporting of student performance. Here we overview a framework for routines needed to manage classroom assessment. The goal of these routines is to support the meaningful work of teaching by suggesting systematic processes to deal with some of the more perfunctory tasks that can lead to unexpected issues. Further, the establishment of sound routines can support the development of a productive classroom assessment climate.
