ABSTRACT

It is laundry day for Larry. He carries his basketful of dirty clothes down to the laundry room in the basement of his apartment building, puts his clothes into the washer, adds some detergent, puts in a pocketful of coins, and presses the start button. Now, he will have a solid 20 minutes to study for his upcoming microbiology exam. No one else is there so he plops down on a nearby bench and opens his notes and his textbook and starts to read over the material, lecture by lecture. When the washer stops, he moves his clothes to the dryer and continues his reading for another 20 minutes. In this way, Larry sits quietly and reads every word of his notes. What a perfect way to use laundry time to study, Larry thinks to himself.
