ABSTRACT
This chapter is divided into two sections. The first examines two movements—one by Mozart and the other by Schubert—in what is described as extended rounded binary form, which, in essence, is abbreviated sonata form. The second section examines two examples—one by Beethoven and the other by Mendelssohn—of the formal pattern A B A’.
