ABSTRACT

An approach to curriculum development has been presented which shows the relationship among the various elements of the curriculum: objectives, content, methods and evaluation. The activities in the process of curriculum development were presented in a particular order which is perhaps the most logical one and which is to be recommended, given suitable circumstances. Teachers are frequently working in an existing situation and trying to bring about change at the same time. If the formal leader has sufficient knowledge and understanding of the theory and practice of curriculum development and of group dynamics, curriculum development undertaken on a group basis can serve as an admirable vehicle for in-service education. The task of curriculum development is too demanding to be undertaken at the end of a school day. Teachers should be prepared to ask themselves searching questions about the curriculum they are offering their pupils.
