ABSTRACT

The future of knowledge creation and innovation has to be through “research to innovation”. Da Vinci Institute/Trans4M and Harare Institute of Technology are some of the academic laboratories. The Communiversity will not be limited to academic benefits, but for the propagation of past and new knowledge rhythms to create knowledge pulses. The creation of new knowledge should be about harnessing the good and useful from both the indigenous and exogenous spaces. From a business perspective, knowledge creation and innovation bring democratisation of learning and teaching to the workplace. Knowledge creation and innovation in business organisations is driven by the need to improve processes and increase productivity which in turn results in improved profitability. The Calabash of Knowledge Creation is deliberately designed with an opening at the top and a spiral at the centre for this reason. The opening at the top is to allow new knowledge into the calabash, which knowledge is equally interrogated and modified if necessary.
